Technology
Using familiar technology in a whole new way.
For Get in Line’s first prototype in the fall of 2008, industry leaders and research pointed the team to a technology that just about every guest brings with them in line: their cell phones!
Get in Line features a technology that allows guests to use their cell phones as game controllers. When prompted, guests dial in and their personal avatar appears onscreen. When dialed in, get ready for a competitive or collaborative game experience!
By making use of technology that guests bring with them, it’s easy to get engaged. Get in Line leverages a technology that is both personal and powerful.
Queue-munity
Standing in a line with hundreds of other people isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Social interaction is one of the most important components of the queue line experience – something Get in Line calls “queue-munity”.
In Get in Line experiences, we try to leverage the fact that there are so many different people in the waiting environment. Not only do we use exciting technology and theming, but we try to capture fun simplicities such as creating a synchronized ‘wave’ down a serpentine queue or having an in-line dance contest. Even regular conversation is a powerful component to crafting exciting queue experiences.
By finding fun and sometimes silly social interactions and building them into larger events, Get in Line creates queue experiences that are more fun with more people!
Theme
Shake the blues of normal queues.
Lengthy waits can detract from the experience guests are waiting for, or diminish the excitement of the venue.
By adding exciting and dynamic themes to waiting experiences, this time can instead further engage guests and heighten excitement for what they are waiting for. Environmental theming has been implemented with varying degrees of success in larger theme parks such as Disney and Universal: environmental themeing makes the wait experience a bit less boring.
By crafting an interactive story, characters, and themed games, Get in Line moves beyond mere environment themeing and brings the excitement from the attraction into the line with guests to create a seamless and unforgettable experience.
Get in Line doesn’t look to just make waiting ‘more bearable’ – we aim to make it as fun as what guests are waiting for!
